The Homestead was conceived, designed and financed by it's founder, Marianne Faulkner. She wanted a comfortable home for seniors, who were not ready for a nursing home, but did not want to live alone. Mrs. Faulkner longed for companionship in her later years of life and didn't want others to feel as lonely as she was.
The very first residents moved in on March 31st, 1957, with many more to follow.
